But the cat Saga doesnt end there. I was at work one day and this customer had these wierd looking cats. I had never seen one before and she convinced me(snobbishly) that the cats were very expensive. She told me she had to sign an agreement never to take them outside. They are strictly indoor cats apparently. She told me they are called British Shorthair cats.

I called Courtney and asked her to look up on the internet how much these cats cost to buy, because the lady was soo adamant that they were very expensive. [Begin My Version of Events->] Courtney got it into her head that me asking for the price was a sign that I wanted a new cat. This couldnt have been farther from the truth.

She looked around on the internet for a while and found that they ranged anywhere from $500 to $700 for a multi-color or single-color respectively. That was pretty much what this lady had said. Thats alot for a cat.. However, Courtney found a shelter that had some exotic cats including a 4 month old female British Shorthair. They wanted $175 for it and it had all of its shots and had already been spayed. (To the untrained, this was actually a deal as we had spent more than this on our current cat in shots/spaying)

I told her no, she begged, nay, pleaded with me to get this cat. I stood firm and said no. So she wanted to at least go look at the humane society for a new kitten. I said no, if i was getting a cat it was going to be this british one.

Turns out, to make matters worse, this cat shelter was located in Sacramento, CA. So no way was this ever going to happen. Having said that let me introduce the newest member in our family, Cairo. What, you ask? Let me explain..

My dad lived in Sac for a while several years ago and was planning a trip to go back this summer. Unfortunately it didnt work out and he never went. So once Courtney forced decided we were going, I asked my dad if he wanted to tag along. Fortuneatley for everyone this worked out great. We split cost for the trip and rented a car and we made it happen. Left Saturday night late and came home Monday. Having said that, I never want to be in the car that long again.

Cairo is just as cool as we hoped. She is amazingly playful and so soft youve never felt anything like it. Definately worth the $700 $175 we spent on her. It took a bit for the old cat to get used to the new but now they get along pretty well.
